It’s important to us that you have confidence in your new CCTV system. Below we’ll answer some important questions our customers often ask.
Is a CCTV System Really Necessary on my Premises?
We believe it’s a valuable investment to install one of the most effective criminal deterrents on the market: a CCTV system. Even if a crime does take place you benefit by having video footage of the act. This can become evidence if someone needs to be prosecuted.
These systems have other practical uses too such as giving you live video footage to monitor the safety of your children, an elderly person or your pets. These components become your eyes when you can’t be at home yourself.
Does my Business Need a CCTV System?
Any technology that can deter criminal activity is valuable for businesses. But a CCTV system carries much more value than simply limiting theft from outsiders. You can improve control of products, save money because you don’t require security patrols anymore and you’ll prevent theft by employees. You also automatically have Work Cover evidence in the event of an injury.
What is the Difference Between a Digital CCTV and an Analog CCTV system?
Both systems are valuable and they differ in cost. In most cases Digital IP CCTV cameras are the winning options:
- You get high image quality
- It requires only one CAT6 data cable for connecting it to an onsite NVR
- It’s compatible with PoE (Power Over Ethernet)
- Gain remote access from your computer, Smart Phone or tablet
Although analog CCTV systems are cheaper, remember that you’ll need a power source for each camera, it’s not remotely accessible and usually it delivers lower quality images.
Are Wired or Wireless CCTV Systems the Best for My Home?
While wireless CCTV systems are often popular with the public because they’re easy to install, they can easily disconnect from the Wi-Fi network. These systems are also difficult to maintain as you need to continuously replace batteries or ensure there’s a working power source for each camera.
To prevent these problems we prefer to install wired CCTV systems that perform better in various aspects. You benefit from optimum reliability.
Is My CCTV System Protected Against Weather/Vandalism?
You can trust the cameras we install outdoors thanks to these specs:
- They have IP67 weather proof ratings
- There’s an IK10 vandal proof rating associated with them
- They can operate in temperatures of -30°C to 60°C
How Much Data can I Record Before the Footage will be Overwritten?
We install scalable CCTV systems. Do you require one with a 1TB capacity or even 8TB storage? We can provide that and much more by installing multiple hard drives. We’ll help you pick the right setup for you and usually we aim to store 30 days’ footage. When the hard drives are full the system won’t destroy all the stored data but simply start over writing 10 minutes at a time.
Remote Access to Footage: How Does it Work?
Remote access is via a free app. If you have an internet connection you can view via the app from any computer or mobile device.
Please Explain MP (Megapixels)
MP is the abbreviation for megapixels. It represents the quality of the images and the higher the rating the better: you’ll see more detail. With a high MP rating you can zoom in and see details instead of losing image quality. Options include:
- 2MP = 1080P HD
- 4MP = 2 x 1080P HD resolution
- 8MP = 4K UHD

What if I Need More Cameras Later on?
We provide flexible systems: you can change the number of cameras or the storage capacity at any moment.
Will Moving Trees Trigger Unnecessary Recordings?
Moving foliage doesn’t have to be a problem. We’ll simply add ‘dead zones’ when we set up the system. The motion sensors will only activate when there are movements you want to record.
Are your neighbours concerned about their privacy? Sections of footage can be blacked out so you don’t capture footage that include activity on other properties.
The Footage is on my NVR Hard Drive—Can I download it?
Recorded data can be downloaded in various ways:
- USB sticks
- External hard drives via USB cable
- Our free app
If you have any problems, simply call our technicians.
What if my Hard Drive Gets Stolen?
We can configure a cloud backup service at minimal cost. It can store an entire month’s footage so your data is always safe.
What if I Need a Budget Security Solution?
If your budget doesn’t allow for an entire CCTV system, let’s install a few dummy cameras. They look so real with identical size and shape, authentic branding and blinking LEDs they’re sure to deter criminals.
